Brayan Rocchio
Brayan Rocchio Not in Tuesday's lineup
Tue, May 5, 2026, 5:31 PM
Rocchio is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.
Analysis: Rocchio started the previous 15 games but will hit the bench Tuesday while in the midst of a 5-for-25 slump. Daniel Schneemann will shift to shortstop while Rhys Hoskins enters the lineup at designated hitter for Cleveland.
David Fry
David Fry Provides early, only offense
Tue, May 5, 2026, 7:36 AM
Fry served as the designated hitter and went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Royals.
Analysis: Fry put Cleveland on the board early with a two-run homer in the second inning, but that's all the team could do against Kansas City pitching. It was Fry's third time going deep in his last six games. He doesn't get nearly the number of opportunities as others on the team, but Fry is second on the Guardians with an .892 OPS over 51 plate appearances.
Tanner Bibee
Tanner Bibee Remains winless in poor showing
Mon, May 4, 2026, 9:56 PM
Bibee (0-5) took the loss Monday against the Royals, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks in four innings. He struck out four.
Analysis: The 27-year-old right-hander gave up his second-most runs of the season Monday, also matching a season low in innings. Bibee has just two quality starts under his belt in 2026, and he's now walked multiple batters in six of his first eight outings. Bibee is still recovering from an eight-run implosion in Atlanta during his April 12 appearance, which has left with him a shaky 4.58 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 36:16 K:BB over 39.1 innings, and he'll try to get back on track this weekend against the Twins.
Kyle Manzardo
Kyle Manzardo Heading to bench Monday
Mon, May 4, 2026, 4:53 PM
Manzardo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.
Analysis: Manzardo typically starts against right-handed pitchers, but he'll hit the bench for the series opener in Kansas City while Michael Wacha toes the rubber for the Royals. The Guardians will go with Rhys Hoskins at first base in place of Manzardo, who has followed up his 27-homer 2025 regular season with just two long balls through his first 31 games of 2026.
Chase DeLauter
Chase DeLauter Getting night off
Mon, May 4, 2026, 3:53 PM
DeLauter is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.
Analysis: Unless he's used off the bench, DeLauter will put an eight-game hitting streak on hold Monday while the Guardians go with Angel Martinez in right field and David Fry at designated hitter in the series opener in Kansas City. During the hitting streak, DeLauter has gone 15-for-27 (.556 average) with four extra-base knocks and a 4:3 BB:K, raising his season OPS 140 points in the process.
Austin Peterson
Austin Peterson Returns to action at Triple-A
Mon, May 4, 2026, 11:50 AM
Peterson (triceps) has made two starts for Triple-A Columbus since being activated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday, covering seven innings and striking out six batters while yielding one earned run on four hits and one walk.
Analysis: Peterson was shelved to begin the season after being diagnosed in late February with a right triceps strain, but he appears to have made a seamless recovery from the injury and was able to join the Columbus rotation last week without requiring a rehab assignment. The Guardians added the 26-year-old righty to their 40-man roster over the winter, but he remains somewhat buried on the organizational depth chart and may need the Cleveland rotation to lose multiple key arms before getting the chance to make his MLB debut.
Yorman Gomez
Yorman Gomez Recovering from shoulder strain
Mon, May 4, 2026, 11:44 AM
Triple-A Columbus placed Gomez on its 7-day injured list April 5 due to a right shoulder strain.
Analysis: After being added to Cleveland's 40-man roster over the winter, Gomez has yet to make his 2026 organizational debut due to the shoulder injury, which he likely sustained at some point during spring training. The right-hander has yet to pitch at the Triple-A level after splitting time with High-A Lake County and Double-A Akron in 2025 while submitting a 2.96 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 139:48 K:BB in 121.2 innings between the two stops.
Chase DeLauter
Chase DeLauter Goes yard in loss
Sun, May 3, 2026, 9:38 PM
DeLauter went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Athletics.
Analysis: DeLauter accounted for the Guardians' lone run of the game, connecting on an opposite-field solo homer off Aaron Civale in the fifth inning. After a cold spell in mid-April, the rookie outfielder is back to tearing the cover off the ball, slashing .609/.667/.870 over his past seven games while carrying an eight-game hitting streak. Overall, DeLauter is hitting .304/.392/.554 with six homers, eight doubles, a triple, 21 RBI and 15 runs across 32 contests.
Parker Messick
Parker Messick Surrenders four runs in first loss
Sun, May 3, 2026, 9:32 PM
Messick (3-1) took the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on six hits and no walks over five innings against the Athletics. He struck out six.
Analysis: Messick was done in by the long ball, as the 25-year-old served up three homers in his first loss of 2026. Home runs hadn't been an issue for the southpaw through his first six starts, as he had allowed just one homer prior to Sunday's outing. While the start in Sacramento wasn't his best, the second-year hurler's overall numbers remain strong, as he owns a 2.40 ERA and 0.92 WHIP with a 44:10 K:BB across 41.1 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column next time out, tentatively scheduled for Friday against the Twins.
CJ Kayfus
CJ Kayfus Recovering from oblique injury
Sun, May 3, 2026, 8:02 PM
Kayfus has not played since April 24 due to oblique soreness, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Kayfus, who was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on April 13, went from spotty work in Cleveland to playing every day for the Clippers, which contributed to the injury. After undergoing imaging, which revealed no strain, he began participating in baseball activities. Kayfus, who was not placed on the injured list, could rejoin the starting lineup in a couple of days.
Activated Sunday
Sun, May 3, 2026, 7:50 PM
Ingle (hip) was activated off the 7-day injured list and rejoined Triple-A Columbus on Sunday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Ingle operated as the designated hitter for the Clippers and went hitless in four at-bats. The catching prospect caught 13 of the first 19 games and appeared in two others, so it's understandable given the workload that led to the injury, the organization takes Ingle's return slowly by using him at DH. He's gotten off to a good start, going 13-for-33 (.394) with four home runs, 16 RBI and 14 runs before suffering the injury.
Angel Genao
Angel Genao Elevated to Triple-A
Sun, May 3, 2026, 5:14 PM
The Guardians promoted Genao from Double-A Akron to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday.
Analysis: After posting a .682 OPS over 77 games with Akron in 2025, Genao improved that mark by more than 100 points this season to earn the bump up to Triple-A. The 21-year-old shortstop hasn't displayed much growth in the power department, but he's made stark improvement with his plate discipline. He walked in 21.6 percent of his 105 plate appearances in 2026, well above the 8.6 percent walk rate he posted a season ago.
Moves up to Double-A
Sun, May 3, 2026, 5:09 PM
The Guardians promoted Campbell from High-A Lake County to Double-A Akron on Sunday.
Analysis: The No. 37 overall pick in the 2022 First-Year Player Draft, Campbell didn't make his professional debut until April after requiring a nerve decompression surgery on his right elbow in May 2023, Tommy John surgery in April 2024 and right wrist surgery in October 2024. Despite the lengthy layoff from pitching, Campbell performed effectively at High-A to begin the season, earning the promotion after producing a 2.40 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 22:5 K:BB In 15 innings over his six starts.
Elevated to Double-A
Sun, May 3, 2026, 5:05 PM
The Guardians promoted Chourio from High-A Lake County to Double-A Akron on Sunday.
Analysis: The younger brother of Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio (hand), Jaison has emerged as an interesting prospect in his own right since signing with the Guardians in January 2022. The 20-year-old switch-hitting outfielder will move on to Akron after slashing .317/.431/.476 with two home runs and 10 stolen bases over 22 games at High-A to begin the season.
Angel Martinez
Angel Martinez Taking seat Sunday
Sun, May 3, 2026, 2:34 PM
Martinez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.
Analysis: He'll head to the bench for the second time in the series while the Guardians go with Steven Kwan, Petey Halpin and Chase DeLauter as their starting outfield from left to right. During his lone start in Sacramento, Martinez went 3-for-6 with a run scored in Saturday's 14-6 win, lifting his season average up to .275.
Bo Naylor
Bo Naylor Sitting again Sunday
Sun, May 3, 2026, 2:31 PM
Naylor is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.
Analysis: Naylor had started in each of the Guardians' last six matchups with right-handed pitchers, but he'll hit the bench Sunday against Athletics righty Aaron Civale. The Guardians may have just wanted to reward Austin Hedges with a second consecutive start after the defensive-minded backstop provided a rare impact at the dish in Saturday's 14-6 win with three extra-base hits.
David Fry
David Fry Belts homer in win
Sun, May 3, 2026, 9:46 AM
Fry started in right field and went 1-for-3 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 14-6 win over the Athletics.
Analysis: Fry, who started for the first time in four contests, launched his second home run of the season. He's produced well as a starter, but he gets irregular opportunities in the starting nine. Fry is slashing .280/.419/.520 with two home runs and six RBI over the 12 games in which he's started.
Kyle Manzardo
Kyle Manzardo Goes deep in win
Sun, May 3, 2026, 9:33 AM
Manzardo entered Saturday's game as a pinch hitter and belted a three-run home run in his lone plate appearance in a 14-6 win over the Athletics.
Analysis: Manzardo finished up the game at first base after stepping in for Rhys Hoskins against right-hander Luis Morales. It was the second home run of the season and first in 17 games for Manzardo, who hasn't developed as hoped during his third season in the majors. He's serving on the strong side of a platoon at first base, but the Manzardo/Hoskins tandem is slugging a league-low .283 at the position with just two home runs and 11 RBI between them.
Travis Bazzana
Travis Bazzana Picks up career firsts in win
Sat, May 2, 2026, 7:40 PM
Bazzana went 1-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, two RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 14-6 rout of the A's.
Analysis: After going 0-for-9 with four walks in his first three MLB games, Bazzana racked up his first career hit and RBI with a seventh-inning single Saturday, and he promptly swiped his first career bag afterward. The 23-year-old top prospect will get plenty of leeway to establish himself in the majors after slashing .287/.422/.511 over 24 games at Triple-A to earn his first promotion.
Austin Hedges
Austin Hedges Huge day in Saturday's rout
Sat, May 2, 2026, 7:34 PM
Hedges went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a solo home run and two additional runs scored in Saturday's 14-6 win over the A's.
Analysis: The backup catcher belted his first homer of the season in the third inning off Jacob Lopez, and the three extra-base hits were a career high for a single game. Hedges has been surprisingly productive this season in limited playing time, slashing .325/.364/.500 over 40 plate appearances with three RBI and 10 runs.
