Nic Enright
Nic Enright Set for Tommy John surgery
Tue, Oct 7, 2025, 2:33 PM
Enright will undergo Tommy John surgery soon, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Enright has been sidelined since early September with an injury to his pitching arm, and it's been determined surgery is the best course of treatment. The right-handed reliever will not be ready to pitch in games again until 2027. Enright held a 2.03 ERA and 30:12 K:BB over 31 innings for the Guardians this season.
David Fry
David Fry Nasal surgery scheduled
Tue, Oct 7, 2025, 2:28 PM
Fry will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair nasal fractures, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Fry suffered nasal and facial fractures when he was hit by a 99 mph fastball thrown by Tarik Skubal back on Sept. 24. He's expected to be fully recovered by early-to mid-November, so Fry should have a fairly typical offseason.
Slade Cecconi
Slade Cecconi Records seven outs in Game 3
Thu, Oct 2, 2025, 6:25 PM
Cecconi didn't factor into the decision during Thursday's loss to the Tigers, giving up one earned run on two hits and a walk while striking out three batters across 2.1 innings.
Analysis: Cecconi kept the Tigers off the board through the first two innings of the game with little trouble, but back-to-back singles from the Tigers in the third were all manager Stephen Vogt needed to see to take his starter out of the game after just 47 pitches. Reliever Tim Herrin allowed one of the inherited runners to score, preventing Cecconi from finishing his Guardians postseason debut unblemished. With Cleveland now shifting its focus to the 2026 campaign, Cecconi should have a good chance at cracking the Opening Day rotation after turning in a 4.30 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 132 innings in the regular season.
Bo Naylor
Bo Naylor Pops first career playoff homer
Wed, Oct 1, 2025, 4:07 PM
Naylor went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's victory over the Tigers.
Analysis: Brayan Rocchio broke a tie with a solo shot with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning and Daniel Schneemann tacked on an additional run with an RBI double. Naylor then added some big insurance runs with a three-run blast off lefty reliever Brant Hurter. It was the first hit of the wild-card series and the first career postseason home run for Naylor, who hit a career-high 14 out of the yard during the regular season.
Brayan Rocchio
Brayan Rocchio Go-ahead homer as Guardians survive
Wed, Oct 1, 2025, 3:49 PM
Rocchio smashed a go-ahead, solo home run in the eighth inning of Wednesday's 6-1 victory over the Tigers in Game 2 of the American League Wild Card Series.
Analysis: Rocchio was in a 0-2 hole against Troy Melton with one out and no one on, but he got a center-cut fastball and didn't miss it, putting the pitch over the right-field wall to send the crowd at Progressive Field into a frenzy. The Guardians tacked on an additional four runs in the frame and forced a winner-take-all Game 3 on Thursday. It was the second career postseason homer for Rocchio, who slashed .306/.390/.444 during the 2024 playoffs.
Tanner Bibee
Tanner Bibee Holds Tigers to one run in Game 2
Wed, Oct 1, 2025, 3:41 PM
Bibee yielded one run on five hits and three walks over 4.2 frames Wednesday, taking a no-decision in a win over the Tigers in Game 2 of the American League Wild Card Series. He struck out six.
Analysis: Bibee had to pitch out of a jam right away, with the first two batters of the game reaching on a single and an error. He was up to the challenge, fanning the next three hitters. He permitted one run in the fourth on a Javier Baez RBI single and was spared from being charged with another when Zach McKinstry ran into an out on the bases. Bibee was unable to get through the fifth inning after issuing a two-out walk to put a second runner on, but the Guardians' bullpen then shut things down the rest of the way in a 6-1 win. The righty was trending in the right direction late in the regular season with a 1.30 ERA in September, and he kept it going in his first outing of the postseason.
Gavin Williams
Gavin Williams Tough-luck loss in Game 1
Tue, Sep 30, 2025, 2:57 PM
Williams permitted just two unearned runs on five hits and one walk over six-plus innings but was saddled with a loss in Tuesday's 2-1 defeat to the Tigers. He struck out eight batters.
Analysis: The Tigers plated their first run in the top of the first inning thanks to a pair of two-out singles and an error, and they added another in the top of the seventh on a squeeze bunt after Williams was pulled from the game. That turned out to be enough, as Tarik Skubal and the Tigers' bullpen kept the Guardians in check. Williams accrued up 19 whiffs on his 88 pitches, picking up where he left off after closing out the regular season on a high note. He would likely pitch Game 2 of the ALDS versus the Mariners on Sunday, should the Guardians advance.
Bo Naylor
Bo Naylor Taking seat in Game 1
Tue, Sep 30, 2025, 9:43 AM
Naylor is absent from the lineup Tuesday in Game 1 of the American League Wild Card Series versus the Tigers.
Analysis: With lefty ace Tarik Skubal toeing the slab for the Tigers, the left-handed-hitting Naylor will begin the contest on the bench. The Guardians are going with Austin Hedges at catcher Tuesday.
Brayan Rocchio
Brayan Rocchio Slugs walk-off homer
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 6:00 PM
Rocchio went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer and an additional RBI in Sunday's 9-8 extra-inning victory over Texas.
Analysis: The Cleveland infielder played hero in this contest with a 380-foot, three-run blast to walk off the Rangers and clinch the division for his club. Rocchio concludes a relatively productive second half that saw him hit .257 (56-for-218) with four homers, six steals, 32 RBI and 23 runs scored across 66 games after the All-Star break. Overall, the 24-year-old slashed .233/.290/.340 with five homers, eight steals, 44 RBI and 34 runs scored across 383 total plate appearances this regular season.
Jose Ramirez
Jose Ramirez Swipes trio of bases in win
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 5:54 PM
Ramirez went 2-for-5 with three steals in Sunday's 9-8 extra-inning win against the Rangers.
Analysis: Ramirez drew the start at designated hitter and tallied three stolen bases in a contest for the third time this season. The Cleveland star pilfered both second and third off Texas starter Patrick Corbin in the third before tallying his last steal off Jose Corniell in the ninth. Ramirez wraps another stellar fantasy season in which he reached the 30-homer/40-steal mark for the second consecutive campaign and slashed .282/.360/.503 with 103 runs and 85 RBI in 667 plate appearances.
Logan Allen
Logan Allen Coughs up four runs in no-decision
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 5:44 PM
Allen took a no-decision in Sunday's 9-8 extra-inning victory over the Rangers, conceding four runs on five hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.
Analysis: Allen struggled once again in this 88-pitch appearance, generating only eight whiffs. The 27-year-old gave up two runs on an Alejandro Osuna double in the second before allowing two additional tallies via a Jake Burger single in the third. Allen slogged through the second half, pitching to a 4.59 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 52:24 K:BB in 66.2 innings after the All-Star break. Overall, the Cleveland southpaw concludes his regular season with a 4.25 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 122:62 K:BB across 156.2 total frames.
CJ Kayfus
CJ Kayfus Sitting for regular-season finale
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 2:11 PM
Kayfus is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.
Analysis: Southpaw Patrick Corbin is on the hill for Texas, so Kayfus and fellow left-handed hitters Kyle Manzardo and George Valera will head to the bench. Jhonkensy Noel will fill in at first base for Kayfus.
George Valera
George Valera Taking seat against lefty
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 2:09 PM
Valera is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.
Analysis: Southpaw Patrick Corbin is on the hill for Texas, so Valera and fellow left-handed hitters Kyle Manzardo and C.J. Kayfus will head to the bench. Johnathan Rodriguez will receive the start in right field in Valera's stead.
Kyle Manzardo
Kyle Manzardo Idle against southpaw
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 2:08 PM
Manzardo is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.
Analysis: Southpaw Patrick Corbin is on the hill for Texas, so Manzardo and fellow left-handed hitters George Valera and C.J. Kayfus will head to the bench. With Manzardo sitting, Jose Ramirez will get a day off from playing the field and will serve as Cleveland's designated hitter.
Johnathan Rodriguez
Johnathan Rodriguez Has role in playoff clincher
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 8:14 AM
Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.
Analysis: Rodriguez made his first start since being recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday, and he gave the Guardians an early lift with his opposite-field, two-run homer in the first inning. He later walked in the ninth as part of the rally that led to a walk-off win, clinching a playoff spot for Cleveland. The Guardians can still claim the AL Central title Sunday with a win or a Detroit loss.
CJ Kayfus
CJ Kayfus HBP clinches postseason berth
Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 8:06 AM
Kayfus entered Saturday's game as a pinch hitter, stayed in to play first base and was hit by a pitch in a 3-2 win over Texas. He went 0-for-1 with an RBI.
Analysis: Kayfus was the subject of an odd walk-off victory, when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded that scored the game-winning run and clinched the postseason for the Guardians. Cleveland's not done there; it can finish tops in the AL Central with a win Sunday or a Detroit loss. Kayfus has been a streaky hitter since his call-up in early August, but he's finishing the regular season on a high note with a .905 OPS, six doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI over 19 September games. The rookie should have a roster spot when the Guardians' postseason begins.
Logan Allen
Logan Allen Drawing start in crucial finale
Sat, Sep 27, 2025, 11:16 PM
Allen will draw the start on the mound in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Rangers, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Allen will toe the rubber for Cleveland with an opportunity for the team to win the AL Central on Sunday with a victory. The southpaw has posted an impressive 2.00 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with 13 strikeouts over 18 innings in three starts in September. The Guardians are now expected to save Gavin Williams for Game 1 of the wild-card round Tuesday, wherever that may be.
Joey Cantillo
Joey Cantillo Entering postseason with momentum
Sat, Sep 27, 2025, 10:24 PM
Cantillo didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Rangers, allowing two runs on three hits and no walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out eight.
Analysis: With Cleveland trying to clinch a playoff berth, Cantillo fell out short of qualifying for a quality start while coming one strikeout shy of tying his season best. The left-hander has been a serviceable member of the rotation while Luis L. Ortiz has been on non-disciplinary paid leave, and the former figures to play a significant role in the Guardians' postseason run after notching a shiny 1.59 ERA across his last seven starts. Cantillo wraps up the regular season with a 3.21 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 108:42 K:BB over 95.1 innings.
Kyle Manzardo
Kyle Manzardo Goes yard in defeat
Fri, Sep 26, 2025, 9:58 PM
Manzardo went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 7-2 loss to Texas.
Analysis: Manazardo blasted his 27th homer of the year and his first since Sept. 10 against the Royals. The 25-year-old slugger has been a quality power hitter in 2025, though his fantasy appeal has been limited by his weak batting average and lack of production across the board. Through 465 at-bats, Manzardo is hitting .232 with just 47 runs scored and two stolen bases but does have 70 RBI.
Slade Cecconi
Slade Cecconi Settles in after dismal first frame
Fri, Sep 26, 2025, 9:08 PM
Cecconi (7-7) took the loss Friday against the Rangers, allowing four runs on five hits and one walk in four innings. He struck out three.
Analysis: It was a pivotal game for the playoff-hopeful Guardians, but Cecconi was unable to deliver a positive performance. It was his shortest outing since Aug. 10 against the White Sox, though the right-hander at least managed to settle in for three scoreless innings after giving up all of his runs in the opening frame. Cecconi will finish the regular season with a decent 4.30 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 109:32 K:BB over 132 innings, turning in 11 quality starts in 23 outings.
