Shane Bieber
Shane Bieber Sharp in rehab outing
Wed, Jul 16, 2025, 8:54 AM
Bieber (elbow) struck out five and allowed one hit and one walk over two scoreless innings Tuesday in a rehab start with the Guardians' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate.
Analysis: Bieber took the mound for his first rehab start since May 31, when he made a 2.1-inning appearance in the ACL before being pulled off his assignment when he experienced soreness in his surgically repaired right elbow. The setback was always viewed as a minor one, and Bieber's excellent showing Tuesday in his return to the hill seemingly alleviates any concern the Guardians might have about his elbow moving forward. Bieber will likely need to complete at least three more rehab starts in the minors before the Guardians clear him to return from the 60-day injured list, perhaps at some point in early or mid-August.
Nic Enright
Nic Enright Sent back to Triple-A
Tue, Jul 15, 2025, 2:14 PM
The Guardians optioned Enright to Triple-A Columbus on Saturday.
Analysis: Cleveland summoned Enright from Triple-A to serve as the 27th man for Friday's doubleheader with the White Sox, but his stay with the big club lasted just one day. He appeared out of the bullpen in the second game of the twin bill, striking out three over 1.1 scoreless frames in the Guardians' 5-4 win in 11 innings.
Paul Sewald
Paul Sewald Back to IL with shoulder injury
Tue, Jul 15, 2025, 12:26 PM
The Guardians placed Sewald on the 15-day injured list Tuesday due to right shoulder strain, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Sewald returned to action for the Guardians on July 5 after he had been shelved since late April due to a right posterior deltoid strain, and now he's back on the IL with another shoulder-related issue. The veteran reliever will be eligible to return July 27, but it's not yet clear what his timeline for a return looks like. Sewald has been limited to only 15.1 innings this season, collecting a 4.70 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 18:4 K:BB.
Shane Bieber
Shane Bieber Resuming rehab assignment Tuesday
Mon, Jul 14, 2025, 8:55 AM
Bieber (elbow) is scheduled to make a rehab start in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Tuesday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Bieber made his first rehab start in the ACL on May 31, but he was pulled off his minor-league assignment a week later after experiencing renewed soreness in his right elbow, which he had surgically repaired April 12, 2024. He was cleared to resume throwing about two weeks later, and after building back up through bullpen sessions and live batting practice sessions, Bieber is ready to return to game action. He's expected to be limited to around two innings and 35 pitches Tuesday and will likely need to complete at least two or three rehab starts after that before the Guardians bring him back from the 60-day injured list.
Joey Cantillo
Joey Cantillo Logs longest outing, K's up six
Sun, Jul 13, 2025, 7:29 PM
Cantillo did not factor in the decision, allowing four runs on seven hits over 5.1 innings while striking out six in the 6-5 win over the White Sox.
Analysis: Making his third start of the season, Cantillo looked sharp early but ran into trouble in the middle innings. He gave up a solo homer to Austin Slater in the fourth and exited after surrendering another solo shot to Andrew Benintendi in the sixth. The outing marked his longest of the year, and the 25-year-old has shown he can sustain his swing-and-miss stuff over multiple frames, racking up 18 strikeouts across 12.2 innings in his trio of starts.
Austin Hedges
Austin Hedges Returning to bench Sunday
Sun, Jul 13, 2025, 12:17 PM
Hedges is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Analysis: Bo Naylor will return to the lineup after Hedges had started behind the plate in three of the Guardians' last four games. Though the Guardians have turned the catcher position into more of a timeshare lately, Hedges' playing time should fall by the wayside as soon as Naylor begins to heat back up. Naylor is batting just .174 on the season, but he's gone 5-for-20 with three doubles and a 2:3 BB:K over his last seven games.
Daniel Schneemann
Daniel Schneemann Resting Sunday
Sun, Jul 13, 2025, 12:14 PM
Schneemann is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Analysis: Schneemann will receive a breather after he started the first three games of the series in Chicago, including both ends of Friday's doubleheader. With Schneemann on the bench, Angel Martinez will receive a start at second base while Nolan Jones shifts to center field.
Kyle Manzardo
Kyle Manzardo Homers in win
Sun, Jul 13, 2025, 8:35 AM
Manzardo went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 6-2 win over the White Sox.
Analysis: Manzardo's sixth-inning homer was the game-winning hit, breaking a 2-2 tie. The round-tripper was his 14th of the season. It was a rare highlight for Manzardo (.217 batting average), and his first RBI in 10 contests. He continues to share the DH role with David Fry, and neither one is making a case to claim full-time at-bats.
Hunter Gaddis
Hunter Gaddis Experienced cramping
Sun, Jul 13, 2025, 8:10 AM
Gaddis experienced a cramp during Friday's outing but stayed in the game, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Gaddis was checked out by the staff and remained in the game, picking up a hold along the way. He said there was some soreness Saturday but indicated he was feeling better. With the All-Star break coming up, Gaddis looks like he'll be ready to go when the schedule resumes.
Jose Ramirez
Jose Ramirez Swipes three bags
Sun, Jul 13, 2025, 3:12 AM
Ramirez went 1-for-3 with one RBI, one run scored and three stolen bases in Saturday's 6-2 win over the White Sox.
Analysis: Ramirez swiped three bases for the second time this season, with the other such performance coming May 12. While he recorded just one hit in the game, the star third baseman has been locked in at the plate lately, slashing .303/.439/.788 with five homers and 10 RBI over his past nine games after a cold stretch to close June and start July. On the season, he's slashing .297/.367/.510 with 18 home runs, 17 doubles, 29 steals and 48 RBI across 91 games.
Tanner Bibee
Tanner Bibee Earns fifth win
Sun, Jul 13, 2025, 3:00 AM
Bibee (5-9) earned the win Saturday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings against the White Sox. He struck out five.
Analysis: The right-hander picked up his first win since May 22, with the only damage off him coming on a two-run single by Kyle Teel in the fourth inning. It was an encouraging outing for Bibee, who came into the start with a 5.13 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over 40.1 innings across seven starts since the beginning of June. For the season, he now holds a 4.29 ERA and 1.24 WHIP through 109 innings in 19 starts.
Bo Naylor
Bo Naylor Taking Saturday off
Sat, Jul 12, 2025, 1:09 PM
Naylor isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox.
Analysis: Naylor went 0-for-4 with a walk in the final game of Friday's twin bill and will now take a seat on the bench while Austin Hedges catches for starter Tanner Bibee.
Daniel Schneemann
Daniel Schneemann Makes impact in doubleheader
Sat, Jul 12, 2025, 4:30 AM
Schneemann went 2-for-8 with a double, a solo home run, a stolen base and a second run scored across both games of Friday's doubleheader split with the White Sox.
Analysis: The utility infielder started at second base in both contests, swatting his ninth homer of the season in the matinee before swiping his sixth bag in the nightcap. Schneemann's playing time could be in jeopardy after the All-Star break, however, if Lane Thomas (foot) is ready to come off the IL and bump Angel Martinez back to the infield -- Martinez is red hot at the plate, while Schneemann hasn't had a multi-hit performance since June 25 and is slashing a meager .105/.190/.211 over his last 14 games.
Carlos Santana
Carlos Santana Productive in twin bill
Sat, Jul 12, 2025, 4:24 AM
Santana went 1-for-4 with a walk, a two-run home run and a stolen base across both ends of Friday's doubleheader split with the White Sox.
Analysis: The veteran first baseman clubbed the game-winning homer in the matinee, breaking a 2-2 tie by taking Tyler Alexander deep in the sixth inning, and while Santana began the nightcap on the bench, he drew a walk as a pinch hitter and swiped a bag in the 10th inning. Four of his six steals on the year, and three of his 11 long balls, have come in his last 20 games, a stretch in which Santana is slashing just .171/.275/.314 with nine runs and 10 RBI.
Jose Ramirez
Jose Ramirez Goes yard again Friday
Sat, Jul 12, 2025, 4:18 AM
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a walk, a two-run home run and a stolen base in the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the White Sox.
Analysis: The 32-year-old superstar went 0-for-4 in the matinee, although he did score a run. Ramirez kept his hot streak going in the nightcap by hooking a Jonathan Cannon cutter down the right-field line for his 18th homer of the season, and his fifth in eight games since July 4. Over that stretch, Ramirez is slashing .300/.417/.833 with five steals, nine runs and nine RBI, and after swiping a career-high 41 bags in 158 games in 2024, he's upped his pace in 2025 with 26 steals (on 31 attempts) in his first 90 contests.
Angel Martinez
Angel Martinez Power surge continues in twin bill
Sat, Jul 12, 2025, 4:12 AM
Martinez went 2-for-3 with a double and a solo home run in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the White Sox.
Analysis: His homer streak ended at three games following a 1-for-5 performance in the nightcap, but even that knock was a double. Martinez's bat has come to life in July, and the 23-year-old has an eight-game hit streak going in which he's batting .323 (10-for-31) with eight extra-base hits, five two-baggers and three round-trippers. Lane Thomas (foot), who is on the shelf due to plantar fasciitis for the second time this season, could return after the All-Star break and reclaim the starting job in center field if his symptoms have subsided, but it might be hard for Cleveland to remove the switch-hitting Martinez from the everyday lineup given his current form.
Gavin Williams
Gavin Williams Trouble finding plate Friday
Sat, Jul 12, 2025, 4:05 AM
Williams came away with a no-decision in the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the White Sox, giving up three runs on four hits and five walks over five-plus innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: The right-hander's control and command continue to be an issue. Williams tossed 59 of 102 pitches for strikes before getting the hook after allowing a leadoff single to Luis Robert in the sixth, but Lenyn Sosa was his biggest nemesis as the Chicago second baseman launched solo shots in the first and fifth innings. The five free passes weren't even a season high for Williams -- he issued six walks May 26 against the Dodgers -- and he's walked multiple batters in 10 straight trips to the mound, a stretch from which he's somehow emerged with a respectable 3.25 ERA and 1.27 WHIP despite a 44:33 K:BB over 55.1 innings.
Emmanuel Clase
Emmanuel Clase Notches save No. 20
Sat, Jul 12, 2025, 3:57 AM
Clase recorded his 20th save of the season in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the White Sox, allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning.
Analysis: The veteran needed 10 pitches (seven strikes) to dispatch the top of Chicago's order. Clase has been tagged for earned runs only twice in 17 appearances since the beginning of June, posting a 1.56 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB over 17.1 innings during that stretch while converting eight of 10 save chances.
Logan Allen
Logan Allen Sharp in sixth win
Fri, Jul 11, 2025, 8:31 PM
Allen (6-7) picked up the win in the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the White Sox, allowing two runs on one hit and two walks over six innings. He struck out five.
Analysis: The southpaw served up a two-run shot to Luis Robert in the second inning, but otherwise Allen was nearly untouchable as he tossed 56 of 92 pitches for strikes in his third straight quality start and his fifth of the season. Allen will head into the All-Star break with a 4.00 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 70:38 K:BB through 90 innings.
Bo Naylor
Bo Naylor Sitting for first game of twin bill
Fri, Jul 11, 2025, 12:43 PM
Naylor is out of the lineup for the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the White Sox.
Analysis: Naylor will rest up during Friday's matinee, yielding to Austin Hedges behind the dish against right-hander Shane Smith. Naylor is slashing .177/.278/.365 with nine home runs and a 26.8 percent strikeout rate in 235 plate appearances this season.
